This year’s Halloween assembly was packed with tons of ghouls, games and good times. The assembly started with the student council discussing new changes being made around the school, such as hooks in the locker room, new food options in the cafeteria, and other new updates from a London architectural firm.
Next, they hosted jeopardy games with two representatives from each grade: grade 9: Monty and Jules; grade 10: Isabel and Riya; grade 11: Igzi and Bora; grade 12: Adiv and Oli. The game had four categories: sports, Halloween, ISA and random. Each team tied at 1000 points, so a bonus question was introduced. The bonus question, which was won by grade 11 (grade 12 almost won but was disqualified because of cheating), was “What is the population of the Netherlands?”
The next game was a contest between the grade levels with two students and one teacher per team. First, the teams had to wrap the teacher with toilet paper. Then, each member of each team had to do a blindfolded egg run across the stage. The other members could only help by giving verbal instructions. The grade 11 team won, and their grand prize was Halloween candy for the entire grade!
Once team games ended, the costume competition began, with students getting to vote for their favourite costumes. They started with the individual costume contest, which had nine creative competitors with extremely creative costumes, such as music artists like Playboi Carti and 21 Savage, a baby, a witch and a pirate. The next round was the group costume contest, which had eight groups. The group's costumes were Magic Mike, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Despicable Me, Ghostbusters, Money Heist, onesies, breakfast food (an egg and a tea bag) and Chipmunks with Chipettes. The Ghostbusters won! The last costume contest was between four teachers with one duo in a Ted Lasso costume, an elf, and a rapper. The student vote came in, and the Ted Lasso duo won!
To end this year’s spooky and exciting Halloween assembly, the Unnamed Band performed for 10 minutes with an original song.
